He was born in Kentucky but moved to Indiana and Illinois.
He became the 16
President of the United States in 1860.
He wrote the Emancipation Proclamation and
freed the slaves.
He was famous for wearing a stovepipe hat and was the tallest President at
6 feet 4 inches tall.
As President-elect, he grew a beard for the first time, at the suggestion of an 11 year old girl who wrote him a letter.
He was President during the Civil War and was assassinated in 1865 by John Wilkes Booth at Fordís Theater.
